 Accommodation in Dubai

Dubai has 50,000 beds to accommodate the steady stream of visitors, with more hotels scheduled to come in the next few years. Overcapacity and the economic crisis have brought room rates somewhat down to earth, nevertheless the city is in no danger to become a budget destination. Still, even 5 star hotels go on special deals, and a recent crop of budget brands like Holiday Inn Express, Ibis and Premier Inn is also making the city more attractive for budget travellers. Another way to economise is by checking hotel apartments, generally speaking rates drop as temperature go high.

There are essentially two types of accommodation in Dubai; the city hotels and the beach resorts. The city hotels range from one star to five, while the beach resorts are mostly all five stars. Though there are no official camping sites in Dubai, some residents spend weekends camping on beaches or in the desert but given the temperature and lack of facilities, camping is not a popular option for Dubai holidays.

If you are fond of drinking then make sure your accommodation in Dubai is not dry, most of the hotels do have this facility. The city hotels are ideal for scrolling in the shopping malls, souqs and historic areas. The beach resorts are more lavish, with expansive ground; swim –up bars and sandy shores. Most resort guests take sightseeing tour during the day and spend rest of the time in taking sun-bath.

Check in & Check out

Because flights arrive in Dubai without any interval and that is why it is crucial to inform your flight details with the hotel prior to arrival. It is advisable to call your hotel/ travel agent to reconfirm before departure. Check in is generally at 2pm or 3pm and sometimes possible to get room key earlier (subject to availability). Check out time is at 12:00 but you may ask for late check out which is often granted as hospitality gesture unless the hotel is at capacity and if you must keep the room until the evening then ask a day rate which is half the overnight rate. Expect to give your passport at check in time which is essential for local police record.
